What can we expect from the iPhone 14 series?
Let’s check out which models we’ll be seeing before we look at the leaks and confirmed features for the new models. Because, according to the latest news, a surprising name change and a new model await us in the iPhone 14 series.
Apple will introduce 4 new models this year. But unlike past years, it’s certain that a full-size version will come instead of the mini (we could see it as the new SE in March 2023). The name was expected to be iPhone 14 Max. Because although it is the same as the Pro Max in size, it will be similar to the 14 in terms of processor, camera and screen.
But according to a strong claim, Apple wants the Max nomenclature to be specific to the Pro models. For this reason, it will return the name Plus, which we met in the last 8th generation. Therefore, the names of the new series will be iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max respectively.
When we look at the design side, this year the Pro models will stand out. Because now, instead of the iconic notch on the front, there will be a hole for the camera and a second pill-shaped hole for Face ID. We can roughly compare it to the design of Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro. But let’s say it will be positioned in the middle part. The handset is placed at the top between the screen and the case.
The iPhone 14 and Plus model, on the other hand, will come with the iPhone 13 notch that was introduced last year, which has been reduced by 30 percent compared to its predecessor. It should also be noted that the screens used will also be different. First of all, the screen bezels will be significantly thinner.
In addition, due to supply chain issues from Apple’s chip crisis, it is said that this year we will see a 120Hz refresh rate for Pros only, as in the iPhone 13 and Pro models. So the 14 and Plus might come with 60Hz.
On the CPU side, things are a bit complicated. Looking at the overall leaks, it looks like Apple will once again keep the Pro models separate from the rest of the lineup. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models are said to use the A16 Bionic processor, while the 14 and 14 Plus will use the A15 Bionic processor used in the iPhone 13 series.
However, according to another claim, with the improvements made in the past period (before the M series), it is possible to switch to the X series used in tablets. In this case, we may come across a new chip called A15X Bionic.
As for the camera, last year Apple increased both lenses and sensors. This year we expect to see 48-megapixel cameras, the design and registration studies of which were revealed some time ago, instead of the 12-megapixel matrix.
