Two new RF lenses for mirrorless cameras from Canon

Canon has introduced two new super telephoto lenses developed for use in mirrorless cameras: the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM. These two new lenses represent the longest focal length in a non-telescopic product on the market. 800 mm and 1200 mm with caution.

Doubling the focal length is possible by using RF 1.4 x or RF 2 x extender lenses with AF shooting and IS function. When the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM lens is used in this way, it is possible to capture subjects more than 400 meters away in great detail.

 

Canon introduces new 800mm and 1200mm RF lenses

Much smaller than its EF-series counterpart, the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM 3.1 kgIt is the lightest and shortest 800mm L-series lens Canon has ever produced. If RF 1200mm F8L IS USM 3.34 kg The smallest lens ever produced in this size.

Working together with the powerful Image Stabilizer, the RF 800mm F5.6L IS USM reduces blur by up to 4.5 stops and the RF 1200mm F8L IS USM by up to 4 stops, creating images with crisp detail. The 800mm lens also offers good performance and image quality with a wide f/5.6 maximum aperture for this focal length.

In both models, the circular 9-blade diaphragm can operate in 1/8 steps and offers smoother transitions between diaphragms in video recording. RF Series ASC coatings become even stronger with optimized lens design to minimize light spots and lens flare.
