Competition in the semiconductor market is as fierce as ever. Samsung, on the other hand, has announced that it has officially started the 3 nm manufacturing process. Of course, this progress, which happened earlier than expected, seems to have borne fruit. Because Qualcomm has already made reservations for 3nm processors. Chinese bitcoin mining company Pansemi was also the first to place the order.
Samsung promises both performance and energy efficiency with its 3n manufacturing technology!
The race between Samsun, TSMC and Intel is getting hotter. Samsung, on the other hand, has been able to take things a step further by bringing a lot of innovation with its 3nm manufacturing technology. Because, according to the company’s statement, great progress has been made in terms of performance, efficiency and size compared to 5nm.
According to Samsung, with this new process, processors will now be between 45 percent and 50 percent more efficient. In other words, it will be able to perform the same performance as its predecessors with half the power consumption. This will provide a major advantage in terms of both thermal and battery life in battery powered devices.
Another innovation is that a productivity increase of 23 to 30 percent is expected. This means that it will be more powerful than its predecessors and competitors, although it consumes less energy. We will see the effects of this much more clearly, especially on the mobile side.
Finally, it provides a size advantage. Therefore, with this manufacturing technology, Samsung will be able to reduce the size of processors and other chips by about 16 percent. We know this will provide a great advantage within the system.
Of course, another nice thing is that by keeping the CPU size the same, more CPUs and GPUs or AI processors can be put into the empty space. At this point, the threads are entirely in the hands of companies like Qualcomm, who do the design and own the processor.
