Facebook, which has changed its company name to Meta, is one of the companies that has taken the most serious steps in this regard, these days, when the Metaverse universe is being talked about more and more. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is gearing up for the metaverse universe race, points to Apple as a competitor.
Zuckerberg sees Apple as the biggest competitor
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in a meeting with company employees that Meta will compete directly with Apple in creating AR and VR platforms. Zuckerberg said that Meta and Apple will compete in what direction the Internet will take.
Zuckerberg also states that Apple will want to tightly control the metaverse experience. As is known, the company believes in creating a better user experience by doing everything in-house and integrating it tightly. We can say that Meta is moving in the opposite direction in this regard.
The successful CEO says he’s not sure whether a separate open or closed ecosystem would be better. Zuckerberg also shared his thoughts that Apple’s strategy could be more beneficial than Meta’s open ecosystem. However, it was emphasized that they won’t be able to follow this path, as Meta’s goal is to get its gear into the hands of as many people as possible.
The company’s goal is to gather one billion people into the universe of the metaverse. Apple has yet to officially announce any augmented or virtual reality hardware. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously expressed interest in augmented reality.
Apple has long been rumored to have developed several different AR and VR devices, including a high-end Apple VR headset that could focus on virtual reality and gaming. Apple is also said to be working on a smaller and lighter “Apple Glass” wearable that could accompany the iPhone.
